Some of My Winter
Getting my Avalanche Level 1 certification!
A lot of my job as a research technician is this...downloading data.
another part of my job was to do gas fluxes. I put that chamber on the snow and measure carbon and methane production and uptake. This has to do with the activity of soil microbes!
another part of my job was drilling boreholes to sample soils! This was my second winter campaign.
we made a fire to warm up.
me just looking goofy.
lots of hauling gear this winter. Made me stronger but gosh it wore me out.
Katey Walter Anthony, one of the researchers I worked with. She's a badass!
Methane seep! Methane, a greenhouse gas collects under the ice on thermokarst lakes in Fairbanks. We drilled a hole in the ice above a seep, a section in the bed of the lake that pushes a constant stream of methane out.
Did a lot of skiing this winter! This was the best powder day I've ever had!
Also spent a lot of time with the lovely human this winter :) This is my beautiful Annemarie!
Old time jam at the Golden Eagle! Fiddled myself a tad. Hoping to do more.
